Easter

The weather for Easter was the most perfect weather we every could have imagined. After our little family egg hunt in the morning, we got dressed up and headed over to the neighbors for our annual celebration, egg hunt, and brunch. The older kids wanted the job of hiding the eggs for the younger kids (that was a first) and everyone had a wonderful time. When all the eggs were found, we sat on the deck enjoying the warm breeze and plates of delicious food. When we had our fill, David and I came home to spend a few hours in the garden before the sun went down. An absolutely wonderful day!

last vacation post

We have been very much back into the swing of our regular rhythms after our awesome spring break beach trip. But I had uploaded the vacation photos on my work computer and just this morning got around to moving them over to our home computer. So now, even though we are certainly no longer on vacation, I am posting one last round of photos to wrap up the vacation posts. Here it goes...

this is, by far, my favorite picture of gita on the beach. reading. that's my girl.
and a lovely, I mean cool, picture of noah without a teenage scowl on his face...
the girls on the boardwalk to the beach ~ notice how they are following the "walk bikes on boardwalk" rule. very responsible.
girls experimenting with a little height switch-up
gate and house at the Boone Hall Plantation ~
we spent an afternoon touring around here and feeling, as much as we could, the intense history that this place serves as a reminder of. very eye-opening.
still at the plantation, the house that held the cotton gin

beach time

the temperature at the beach was a little chilly for swimming but the kids braved it on the warmer (and less windy) days and loved playing in the sand on the chillier ones.

our week here went by too fast although we enjoyed every moment of it.
we are headed home to the mountains today, after a quick stop for lunch in charleston.
bye bye for now, ocean. we'll see you in the fall.
what lucky duckies we are!

Angel Oak

Yesterday we had the pleasure of visiting the Angel Oak tree on John's Island, SC
The tree is fantastic ~ its age is estimated at possibly 1500 years old.
It is said to be the oldest tree on the east coast.

Charleston, SC

We are having a fantastic time here on Kiawah Island, SC ~
the choice to come here for spring break was a great one. Our little rental house is just a quick bike ride away from the 10 mile long beach. We even saw an alligator!
Today we drove into Charleston for lunch and some sight seeing. We had a blast!

spring fairies

Nimuae, Gita, and cousin Lili were deep in imagination land when David asked them to pause for a photo. We gathered a few details about the game while the posed ~ they were all named after flowers (Daffodil, Daisy, and Rose) and it seemed, from their accents, that they came from a foreign country. I think they look like gorgeous spring fairies bidding winter goodbye.
